CHANIA

CRETE,CHANIA TRAVEL POST 20.7.16 SUMMER 2016

Its been two years since i last visited Chania, and its actually quite a long time considering its my mum's hometown.I truly missed this harbour view, and i definitely needed some vacation time. This post is quite HUGE but there were so many amazing places and photos i just could NOT leave out, so lets take it from the start...hopefully its not too tiring :D

Larissa-------> Chania its a super long trip if you choose the ship option,16 hours in total. We started from Larissa, took the bus to Athens,Pireaus to aboard the ship.

Small old ship next to ours which was sinking.

I always travel by night cause its quite easier to just fall asleep and skip the 8 long hours of being in the middle of the ocean having nothing to look at, but the city lights at Pireaus for the first 20 minutes while we are getting away from the city are magical.

So yaa, we are HERE.After a few hours of sleeping in a normal bed we went out for our first swim. This was a small beach called Agios Onoufrios , 10 minutes away from the center of the town by car.And YEP it was time to tan...IF that was possible considering my pale white skin...

Almost all nights included strolls at the Old Venetian Harbour.Crowed every single day with tourists.I missed hearing people speak other languages and generally seeing people from around the world. They do have a different vibe, you can feel it from the way they move or the clothes they wear.

Cretan Salads are a must anywhere you choose to eat.

TRIPLE EVENT Second day was my first cousin's wedding, main reason i travelled to Crete BUT since they also have two little baby boys, they decided to do the wedding and the baptism on the same day.It was amazing, we danced, i got to see most of my family from my mum's side (she has 10 borthers and sister) so we are actually 30 first cousins in total xax i know, such an original huge cretan family.

all the single ladies

I wore the prettiest little blue lace dress from boohoo.com. The fabric , the length , the seethrough parts...everything just perfect. SHOP IT HERE

Next beach we visited was at Agia Marina. There are many spots that you can stop and enjoy a beautiful day at the beach here, still not far away from the center of Chania, about 15 minutes by car, and ofcourse there is always the city bus that can transfer you to all these places.

In the center of the town you will find the closed Market filled with traditional cretan products and souvenirs to grab

you CANT miss the traditional greek guros souvlaki. and what i love about it here in crete is that they add yogurt.

Due to many family meets-and-greets we didnt have much time left to explore all the places we wanted, but we managed to visit ELAFONISI...a complete paradise.Photos just dont describe what my eyes saw...the color of the water..the whole place is just unreal...

As i said..i have a huge family..so having weddings and baptisms every year is not a new thing..the previous wedding wasnt the only family event we had to attend..one more baptism was about to happen..in a beautiful place up in the mountain.

"kserotigana" traditional cretan offerings to weddings and baptisms.Perfect combination of crunchiness and honey, my grandma makes the best..no seriosuly she's the Queen.

Last day in Crete and last swim. this place is called Stauros.I have been swimming here since i was a babe cause my aunt owns the famous greek cretan tavern Zorbas where the movie Zorbas was filmed so i spent a lot of my summers here as a kid.

Sleeping Lady mountain

Now it was about time to leave..only 6 hours left until our ship starts the journey back to Athens

Last snaps of this magical city, ill be back for sure so no goodbyes. I had a wonderful time. Hope you enjoyed this post as must as i did. kisses
